The inspiring story begins around 300 years ago. One day the story begins around 300 years ago when the eminent Velandi Vydiar of the Muttikulangara lineage
was out in his fields and decided to catch some fish. Satisfied with the day’s catch, he cleaned, cut
the fish and wrapped the pieces using some leaves from nearby plants to carry back home.
When reached home, to his surprise and awe, several of the pieces had come to be bonded together.
Using this piece of information and his profound ayurvedic knowledge, Velandi Vydiar finally perfected
the formula for what has now become the famous Muttikulangara Oil. The secret formula was passed on to
next generations. And Muttikulangara Oil is still manufactured with the same purity and tradition and
used for treatments at K K Sukumaran Muttikulangara Vydiasala, presently run by the sixth generation
of the family.

Kunjan Vaidya, the son of Velandi Vaidya, then Kandu Vaidya,
and then Sukumaran Vaidya, were the main links in this
generation. “K K Sukumaran Muttikulangara Vaidyashala” in
Muttikulangara is now run by his son Sagar. The highest
